    সবচেয়ে তর্কবাগীশ বাঙালিটিও নিশ্চয় মানবেন, মহালয়ার ভোরে বীরেন্দ্রকৃষ্ণ ভদ্রের চণ্ডীপাঠ এক বিরল অনুষ্ঠান, যা আমাদের সাংস্কৃতিক অতীতের সঙ্গে যোগসূত্র রেখে চলেছে। ১৯৩২-এ যখন মহিষাসুরমর্দিনী শুরু হয়, আকাশবাণীর তখনকার প্রোগ্রাম ডিরেক্টর নৃপেন্দ্রনাথ মজুমদার বোধ করি ভাবতেও পারেননি, এ অনুষ্ঠান এতটা সফল হতে চলেছে। আকাশবাণীতে যাঁদের সিরিয়াস আড্ডা থেকে এই অনুষ্ঠানের ভাবনাটা এসেছিল, তাঁদের মধ্যে ছিলেন পঙ্কজকুমার মল্লিক, বাণীকুমার, ‘গল্পদাদু’ যোগেশ বসু, রাইচাঁদ বড়াল এবং অবশ্যই বীরেন্দ্রকৃষ্ণ ভদ্র।
